Since the world is ending in two days, I’ve decided it would be a good time to begin my weight loss journey. I don’t really know what this blog is going to turn out to be, maybe just a weekly record of my progress, but maybe a daily log of my thoughts and strategies.
Here is an assessment of my current situation:
I am 21 years old.
I am 5’11”.
I weigh 179 lbs.
My BMI is 25 exactly, which is the minimum standard for overweight.
I am a size 12/13, depending on clothing brand.
I wear anywhere from a medium to XL in shirts.
I want to lost weight and become fit and active. I am a former athlete, having captained two different varsity sports in high school, and at my lightest, I was 163. This time around I want to weigh 155. That would give me a BMI of 21.6. I’m graduating college in May, and I refuse to spend the first few years of my post-university life overweight or unsatisfied with myself in any way.
I’m going to run a 5k in March, so in addition to changing my diet I’ll be starting an exercise regimen. I’m going to start with some elliptical work, light weights, and yoga. It’s not quite January 1st, but I’m going to get started on my New Year’s Resolution early!
